March 9th (3/09/10):
State Senator Brandt Hershman spoke to the PUCRs and Tippecanoe County Young Republicans about why he is running for US Congress and his future plans.
December 1st (12/01/09):
The CR’s held our annual officer elections. We have a new chairman, Michael Massel, and a new vice-chairman, Evan Elliott. Congratulations to both of our new officers!
November 17th (11/17/09):
Justin Garrett, the Deputy Executive Director of the Indiana Republican Party, came and spoke to CR’s about his work in the Mitch campaign, as well as what we could do to improve our state and nation.
November 10th (11/10/09):
CR’s got together for sandwiches at our first official game night. Emma ended up winning, taking home the leftovers.
October 28th (10/28/09):
Several CR’s went to Southern Missouri State University to hear Newt Gingrich and Howard Dean debate healthcare in America.
October 20th (10/20/09):
State Auditor Tim Berry gave a riviting speech to CRs about personal responsibility and the future of the Republican party. Using his many years of experience serving the state government of Indiana, he provided many useful tips for college students, as well as ideas on how to energize the part for upcoming elections.
October 18th (10/18/09):
The CR’s hosted our first annual Boilers for the Brave charity golf outing. The entire event went extremely well, with $900 in prizes being given out, and a grand total raised of $2,375 to be donated the Indiana National Guard Relief Fund!
October 9th (10/09/09):
Several CR’s took a trip to Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, IL, and had a very enjoyable experience, albeit a cold one.
September 28st (09/28/09):
CR’s faced the College Democrats in a rematch game of Dodgeball. As with last year’s event, the Republican side had more members, more skill, and eventually triumphed in glorious victory.
September 24st (09/24/09):
Purdue College Republicans and many other people from the Lafayette area protested the speech of Bill Ayers, a radical who was part of a domestic terror organization at one point. This event triggered all kinds of media attention. To see some of the links, check out our News Page.
September 12st (09/12/09):
Congressman Steve Buyer held a townhall meeting in Lafayette, discussing healthcare and other issues with many in the audience.
September 1st (09/01/09):
State Representative Randy Truitt came and spoke to our club regarding his close victory this past election and how CR’s can get involved in the future.
August 27th (08/27/09):
Indiana Treasurer Richard Mourdock gave an amazing and motivating speech at our Fall Callout. We had about 50 people, including many returning and new members! If you want to join CR’s, contact Katie at PurdueGOP@gmail.com
April 23th (04/23/09):
Indiana Secretary of State Todd Rokita was the keynote speaker at a very successful Leslie Day, our main fundraising event of the year. The CR’s would like to thank all of our sponsors and everyone else who made Leslie Day 2009 possible!
April 15th (04/15/09):
The CR’s handed out free sweat tea and information about the government spending as a part of the nationwide Tax Day Tea Parties. Several great discussions occurred between CR’s and students from various countries, including Canada, Russia, and Venezuala.
April 14th (04/14/09):
It was so much fun the first time, that the CR’s once again played Laser Tag and ate at Steak n’ Shake.
April 9th (04/09/09):
The CR’s held officer elections. The newly elected officers are Katie Ryan as Chairman, Aaron Anspaugh as Vice-Chairman, and Brianna Burry as Secretary. Congratulations to all the new officers!
April 4th (04/04/09):
The CR’s participated in the Relay for Life, raising $70 to go toward the American Cancer Society.
March 31st (03/31/09):
The CR’s heard a presentation on internships for Northwestern Mutual. For more information, contact Katie Ryan. Then, the CR’s went to support Ryan Hatfield in the PSG Presidential Candidate debate.
March 24th (03/24/09):
The CR’s played a game of Republican Jeopardy and discussed the endorsement of the Hatfield/Corrigan ticket in the upcoming PSG elections. State Senator Brandt Hershman also came and spoke about the current issues facing our state and nation.
March 2nd (03/02/09):
Republicans from all over Tippecanoe County came and celebrated the life of Abraham Lincoln at the annual Lincoln Day dinner. The main speaker was Tony Bennett, Indiana’s Superintendent of Public Instruction.
February 24th (02/24/09):
The CR’s went to Great Skates in Lafayette and had a great time playing laser tag.
February 17th (02/17/09):
The CR’s finished the movie Indoctrinate-U and discussed future events.
February 10th (02/10/09):
The CR’s had a screening of the movie Indoctrinate-U, as well as a thought-provoking discussion regarding the issue of conservative censorship on campus.
February 5th (02/05/09):
Newly-elected State Representative Randy Truitt came and spoke to the club at our Spring Callout. There was a preview of the many upcoming activities this semester, as well as pizza!
January 27th (01/27/09):
The CRs had a planning meeting for the upcoming semester, as well as the initial committee meetings.
January 20th (01/20/09):
The CRs celebrated the inauguration of our wonderful new President over some bowling and pizza.
December 2nd (11/02/08):
The CRs said farewell to 2 graduating seniors, as well as planned for the future of the Republican Party and our club.
November 4th (11/04/08):
Election Day: Many of the CRs celebrated local Republican victories at West Lafayette’s 9 Irish Brothers.
October 28th (10/28/08):
The CRs hosted State Treasurer Richard Mourdock & U.S. Congressman Steve Buyer for a Pre-Election Rally.
